During the 17th century, or possible slightly later, the presbytery was converted into a small parish church within the Cistercian Abbey at Abbeyshrule, County Longford, Ireland. The parish church necessitated blocking the crossing tower's arch and its location and shape are easily visible. The abbey church, as is common in Ireland, was and is used as a Catholic graveyard.
