Picture 155Amenhotep III in the Blue 'War' Crown

c.1394-1353 BC, 18th Dynasty, made in Quartzite. The facial features of this head of Amenhotep III exhibit the stylistic elements of this period - highly arches brows, elongated almond-shapes eyes, and full sharply outlined lips.

The Blue Crown was apparently the kings preferred headdress of the period and is worn by him in many of Amenhotep's statues and reliefs.
