The western end of the nave in the Cistercian Abbey of Corcomroe, County Galway, Ireland.
The east end of the building is distinguished by the high quality of its
stonework but before the work progressed beyond the transepts a serious
deterioration in quality occurred and in the middle-ages the church was
shortened by an intrusive wall, surmounted by a bell turret, and at the same
time the roofs and upper walls were extensively remodelled.
