Pottery pilgrim's flask (AN1892.676) showing St Menas riding on a horse. From Cairo 5th-7th Century. Ashmolean Museum, Oxford. Donated by Reverend Greville John Chester in 1892. The flask originally had two two handles and was mould-made from a pinky-buff ware. The moulded decoration includes St Menas riding a horse (rather than a camel), inside palm-wreath, on the other face is an inscription within circle of dots.

Dimensions: height: 6.8 cm, width: 3.4 cm, diameter: 6.3 cm.
