Seated lion on a plinth, polished Redware. This guardian lion, modelled with a mixture of realism and stylisation, is a striking example of ceramic sculpture. It was found in a deposit which included a siltstone statue of King Khasekhemwy of the 2nd Dynasty. From the temple enclosure, Hierakonpolis; Old Kingdom (6th Dynasty?).
