Painted limestone stela of Samontu dating to the 12th Dynasty, c.1900 BC (EA 828). The inscriptions at the top of the stela record that he was born during the reign of Amenemhat I and was appointed Royal Scribe during Senusret I's reign. Senusret also promoted his to other offices. The stela is dated (top line) to the 3rd regnal year of Amenemhat II's reign.
