Hieratic copy of the Book of the Dead
written on papyrus for the Chief Baker Padiamenet who was from the domain of Amun.
It is dated to the early 22nd Dynasty (c.945-715 BC).
After the New Kingdom
the Book of the Dead was often abbreviated into a short section of text
written in hieratic - and a picture of the deceased worshiping Osiris or the
sun-god was included. This allowed a larger number of the population to an
affordable hope
for an after-life.
