Fine-grained diorite Head of a Kushite ruler Tanutamani, 3rd Intermediate period (late 25th Dynasty). Tanutamani was defeated by an Assyrian army that invaded Egypt and subsequently sacked Thebes. After Tanutamani's defeat he, and his family, continued to rule Nubia from the area around Napata until the 1sat quarter of the 3rd century BC.
