(top) Unguent jar in the shape of two plucked ducklings. 13th to 17th Dynasty excavated at Abydos. Anhydrite, one eye of each bird is still inlaid with a porous material inside a copper rim. (bottom left) Anhydrite Toilet jar (eyes were originally inlaid with copper) in the shape of a squatting monkey, 13th to 17th Dynasty from Girga near Abydos. The head of the monkey is removable and was closed on top with a lid (missing). The monkey has a shell amulet around it's neck and the small container serves as a dispenser for an applicator. Conifer resin was an admixture to the ointment in the vessel.
