Quartzite bust of Ankhemtenenet, possibly from Memphis.

Ankhemtenenet is wrapped in a Middle Kingdom-type cloak. However the wig is in the New Kingdom style. His name is written on his left shoulder; below it is a reference to the temple of Ptah at Memphis, where the statue was probably dedicated.

These severe faces of Ankhemtenenet and they demonstrate the period's affinity for earlier realistic models, whether Middle Kingdom statuary on display in the Theban region or Old and Middle Kingdom statuary in the Memphis region.
